To choose the correct shoe size you should measure your feet<\/strong>. For this, you will need a sheet of paper or notebook, a pen or pencil, a ruler<\/strong> and, if possible, the socks you plan to wear with those shoes<\/strong>. Then, follow these steps:

1. Place the sheet of paper on the floor<\/strong> with one edge flush against the wall and make sure it doesn\u2019t move. To get an accurate measurement, stand with your weight evenly distributed over both feet and press your heel firmly against the wall<\/strong> on the paper.<\/p>

3. Measure both feet and choose the larger measurement<\/strong> (very few people have perfectly identical feet). Then, measure the distance from the edge of the paper to your mark in millimeters or centimeters and multiply by 10 to convert to millimeters.<\/p>

4. Add 7 mm<\/strong> to get the active foot length and consult the sizing chart<\/strong>. The size you should choose is the next whole size up. For example, if the active foot measures 258 mm, choose size 39.<\/p>

With this method you are measuring the length<\/strong>, but not the width<\/strong>. Most shoes taper at the front; the most extreme case is pointed women\u2019s styles. If you have wider feet<\/strong>, you may need to go up a size, since the tapering will limit the use of the full length of the shoe.<\/p>

HOW TO MEASURE YOUR FOOT WIDTH<\/h4>

To measure the width (girth) of your foot you will need a flexible tape measure (fabric or plastic) or, if you don\u2019t have one, a string and a ruler. Then follow these steps:<\/p>

  1. Identify the widest part<\/strong> of your foot, usually at the front where the toes begin (the metatarsals).<\/li>
  2. Wrap the tape measure<\/strong> around that area without tightening too much (if using string, mark where it meets and then measure the string with a ruler).<\/li>
  3. Note the measurement<\/strong> in centimeters and, for more precision, multiply by 10 to convert to millimeters.<\/li>
  4. Repeat on the other foot<\/strong> and use the larger figure, as both feet can differ slightly.<\/li><\/ol>
